Color Obsession: Peacock Green!

During my lunch breaks, I scroll through the various sales on Joss & Main, looking for key pieces or accessories to add to my home.  There is always a ton of great stuff, and more often than not, I find that I was just a tad too slow and the items I truly adore are sold out.

Today however, there was one particular piece that caught my eye, and while I won’t be shelling out the money for it, I’m pretty obsessed with it.  This Sutton Place Chaise in Peacock had me drooling at first site.  I mean just look at how gorgeous that green is!  The color alone makes the piece feel so rich and expensive.

Green has definitely always been one of my favorite colors, but I am now on a mission to add more of this Perfect Peacock to my home and wardrobe.  Dark, jewel-toned greens are definitely going to be one of my top Fall colors this year.

Here’s a look at some other fabulous peacock green finds!

10 Weeks to a Half Marathon

With Autumn right around the corner, I'm beginning to amp up my running routine.  I've been keeping my runs short and sweet this summer because the humidity and heat index of nearly 100 degrees everyday has been a little much.  I'm extremely excited for the temperatures to drop a bit, but I'm not necessarily excited for suffering I'll endure as I attempt to increase my mileage significantly.

Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate runner, you probably haven't taken on the task of running a half marathon.  I have yet to run a competitive half marathon in my life, but its definitely on the radar in the next year.  The big question is, how do you get there?  Running 13 miles ain't no piece of cake!

I've known quite a few people who have used the 10-Week Half Marathon Training Schedule, and I've even been down the path myself for torture fun.  It's a daunting task every year and for someone who has never done it before, there's not much exciting about starting it.  So, I decided to change that.  Check out my calendar!

I wanted a fun little way to keep track of my progress and I created a simple, yet colorful calendar to help me and keep me motivated.  I recommend rewarding yourself every week with something small, and jotting it down in the calendar so you know what you're racing towards.  Cross off the days as you go, and try to have fun.  Hanging the calendar on the fridge or in a place where everyone can see it is an extra motivator as well.  I find that I'm more likely to complete a goal when someone else is holding me accountable. Want a copy of my calendar for yourself?  Click Here!

One last thing... A calendar will only get you so far when it comes to running a half marathon.  You need the proper gear, nutrition and other known-how, so check out this site for additional info if you're a newbie!

Pisces Dreamin'

While sipping a little green tea this morning, I decided to check-in on my horoscope reading for the day.  Now let me say, I am not someone who avidly reads or follows astrology, but every once in a while I find them interesting and like to indulge.  The truth is, I really try hard not to believe what I read about day to day events, but when it comes to my “Astrological Personality” as a Pisces, the description is right on the money.
Here's what Horoscope.com has to say about Pisces:

I will definitely own up to the whole romantic, artistic, sensitive side of the Pisces, but what I can identify with the most is being a dreamer.

I am too often caught with my head in the clouds, thinking up a wonderful, imaginary life for myself.  This isn’t to say that I don’t think my life is wonderful now but let’s face it, part of being human is trying to find a way to improve and make things better.   So, as I read my horoscope today, I began to dream, and as I dreamed I thought about how I could make some of it reality.

Thus I began my dream list.  NOTHING big.  These are just small, everyday dreams which may be a bit challenging but feasible.   The beginning of my list looks something like this:

  • Go to the spa
  • Train for a half-marathon
  • Read 5 books by the end of the year (NOT including baby books!)
  • Blog at least 3x a week
  • Buy a house
  • Take cooking/baking classes

I don’t know how well I’ll do with conquering my dreams, but having them written down feels like it helps.

So what about you?  Any small or BIG dreams?  Do you follow your horoscope and let it guide you?

Where have I been - July Recap.

I knew that July was going to be a busy month, but I never expected it to be so busy that I'd put blogging on hold.  After my 5K and my little one's birthday, things at work got hectic and sure enough it put a strain on home life.  I think I went two weeks without cleaning anything!

After the Fourth of July we went on vacation to North Carolina for a week and had a fabulous time.  I even caught my very first fish.  My man caught way more than I did, but it was my delicious beer batter recipe that really made everything come together as we fried them up for dinner one evening.

After I got back from the beach, I expected work life to improve as I had a new hire ready to start my first day back, great right?  Yeah, until he changed his mind the day before, and I was left with piles of work.

The rest of July has been filled with an pretty tight workout schedule for myself, parties, lots of new healthy recipes, and spending time with my family.  But now I am back and ready to roll.  I have a lot of things to talk about and share with you!

Hamptons of the Chesapeake - Fashion Spread

It took me a day or so, but I finally opened up the latest issue of Capitol File that landed on my doorstep the other day.  For those of you who aren't familiar with Capitol File, it's a fairly new magazine based out of Washington DC which highlights all the happenings, hotspots, fashion, and people from and visiting the District.

I'm not a huge follower of the magazine, its usually just something to flip through while I sip on my morning coffee, but I think that's about to change.  When I turned to a fashion spread shot at the Inn at Perry Cabin, I just about fell in love with the location and every outfit.  The Inn at Perry Cabin is located in St. Michaels, Maryland just across the Bay Bridge and is about 2 hours from the heart of DC.  While the location is stunning, I was really all about the clothes modeled on the beautiful landscape.  Every piece, every outfit, is totally something that I would love to have in my closet.  Check it out!

More details about the location and outfits can be found on the Capitol File Website here
